Letter from Leslie Koch, President of Governors Island...
On behalf of the staff of Governors Island, we wanted to thank everyone for braving the weather and spending the day on this truly wonderful destination in the heart of New York Harbor. After over 200 years, Governors Island has begun to embark on a new public life, welcoming visitors to explore our National Historic Landmark District, and to imagine the existing 80 acre southern half of the island as a future mix of public parkland and new commercial development.
Thank you for spending taking the time to tour the island and participate in the architectural conversation. Please share any ideas you may have about the island's future. We are always looking for inspiration. Who knows what kind of gadgets and technology could be part of our future?
And, come back and visit and bring your family, friends, and colleagues. And, for those Gadgetoff members who missed the trip – we invite you to come and visit us as well. Our website provides the details on public visits (www.govisland.com). Or email us at info-gipec@empire.state.ny.us. We look forward to seeing you all again in the future.
Sincerely, Leslie Koch, President, Governors Island Preservation and Education Corporation.
